CIEA also welcomed the Langara Faculty Association back as Local 14, and the Vancouver Instructors Association also joined as Local 15. But the decade ended with a strike at Douglas College over low wages, workload and the college's wish to contract out instructors' work. For the last three weeks of November, faculty were on the picket line, eventually settling for an 18% wage increase over two years, regularization of part-time work, and curbing the institution's ability to contract out work.
